Volume 30, June 2003
Hi everyone,
Thank you to Dwight Weisz this month for being our June sponsor, so nice to see so many of you getting involved in this project! This month we have our interview, news from home, new photos at ofoto.com, humor and all kinds of stuff! Thanks to all of you who took the time to send things in, we love that!
Next month watch for an interview with Blaine Clausnitzer, one of the many in our class
who choose a career helping others! For those of you who know Blaine, you will definitely
appreciate his sense of humor in his interview!
Have a great month everyone, enjoy the beautiful weather and the time with your families!
Lauri, Dan, Todd and Wendy

Recommended movies: Need help here!
Favorite cities and why? BISMARCK Weve lived in several
cities in Los Angeles county and Ive been to cities in most parts of the country and
many parts of the world. They all have different great "stuff", but its
just stuff! We came back because of the people. The people make for the quality of life
(for us). Bismarck had great people and karma when we all grew up here and its funny
how little its changed!

organization like the Shriners, but Lions is the largest in the world.
Pet peeves: When you tell people you are from North Dakota and they tell
you that they know someone from South Dakota! Does this happen to anyone else?
Memories of Bismarck (good ones): Summers at the lake at Steve Pflipsens
cabin. We used to start skiing in May and the water was so cold you couldnt even say
"hit it".
Memories of BHS (good ones): The parties, man we had some great parties! Its
amazing that most of us are still here to talk about them. Talk about the grace of God.
Who were some of the people you hung out with? Pflipsen, Wolfer, Weisz,
Schiermeister & Sowka
Were you involved with any extra curricular activities, if so what? Getting our
Ph.D. in causing trouble.
Favorite teachers at BHS and why: I was only allowed to be there as a Sophomore and
its really blurry!!
Favorite high school hang-outs: Dragging main, of course, and anywhere there was a
party.
GRADUATION CONGRATULATIONS
A little ND humor!
I receive so much ND humor, that each month I will try to share something with you! For some reason only people who live in ND or are from ND can appreciate it or relate to it! Some you may have seen, some not, but heck maybe it will make your day! I promise to keep it clean!
"CLASS FLAVORS"
Dont forget to check out this months recipe, Pam (Eckroth) Schoeder contributed "Platter Apple Dip". It is a dip for apples, which includes caramel, cream cheese, and Heath Bars, how could a person go wrong with that combination! It sounds delicious!
This is an interesting twist on our web site! I received the following letter in Mid-May and thought I would share it with all of you. Not only do we enjoy our newsletter each month, but others enjoy our web site also, especially the recipe section
Thank goodness for your web site! My son came home from school today and said he needs
to bring a German dish for his German class tomorrow. I've helped my Grandmother make
kucken before so I know it's definitely more of a project than I care to tackle,
especially since I'm exhausted after hosting a graduation party yesterday. And,
unfortunately, it's very difficult to find the already made product in the stores in the
southern part of South Dakota. I had heard about kucken bars before and went through some
of my cookbooks, found lots of recipes for kucken, but none for the bars, so I decided to
search the Internet and lo and behold I found that a gentleman by the name of Dan Raszler
had entered a recipe for Kucken Bars. (Dan, you're a lifesaver and a timesaver). Anyway,
just want to say thanks for the recipe and now, I'm off to the kitchen to do my domestic
duty. Wish me luck!
Thanks again,
Lori in South Dakota

TODD IS MISSING IN ACTION THIS MONTH!!!! Actually from what I gather he chose to go to the cabin this month rather than write his column!!! BAD, BAD BOY!!! He promises us a much better, much improved and funnier column for July! He had better come through, I will be home in July and I know where he works and where he lives! Kidding Todd! We look forward to reading Julys column!
LIFE HIGHLIGHTS
Don Nelson is hopefully finishing up his tour in the Middle East. His last communication with us was in early May and at that time he hoping to be headed home by Mid-June, though plans do change in the military with virtually no notice. His 179-day temporary duty ends in early August so he is hoping to home by then for sure. We will see! For know he is busy packing supplies, tearing down camp, and preparing for a much deserved trip home!
JoLyne (Wilson) Palumbo has once again survived the tornadoes that struck Oklahoma City in May. She lives south of Oklahoma City and was only a couple miles south of the destruction. They had to spend some time in the shelters, but that is minor compared to what might have been. Her husbands employer took a major hit, it is uncertain when they will be up and running again and the children enjoyed an extra day off from school. Springtime in Tornado Alley!
CONGRATULATIONS
It is official, the "commitment ring" that Terri Benson has been wearing has now become an engagement ring!!! We could not be happier for the two of them! They also recently purchased a new home, and hope to begin planning that very special day for sometime in 2004! We wish you both the very best that life has to offer, you both deserve it!
Remember when
Last month we offered up a challenge, can you remember the weather beacon and the weather poems associated with it, well here are some ideas, all different but yet somewhat the same! Unfortunately I do not know who is correct, because I have no idea myself!!
Submitted by Maren (Swenson) Waxenberg
Weather beacon red as fire, temperature is going higher,
Weather beacon emerald green, no change foreseen,
Weather beacon white as snow, temperature is going low,
When beacon blinks in agitation, there's going to be precipitation.
